Batik paintings are on a cotton/rayon mix fabric.
The Batik process uses wax as a resist. First the outline is sketched and any parts that are to remain white are blocked out with wax.
The dye is added. Then wax is used to block out the next colour and so on. At the end the wax is boiled off leaving the finished Batik painting
